WITH CRISTEN HEMINGWAY JAYNES

The first artistic collaboration of Hexagons: Pollinate Culture was presented in London, on December 3rd, 2019, during the international launch of the book “Ernest’s Way: an International Journey Through Hemingway’s Life” by American writer Cristen Hemingway Jaynes.

In 2018, Cristen and Gema engaged in conversation about the importance of being inspired by artists and writers whose vision illuminates us.

As Cristen was writing her book “Ernest’s Way” based on the travels of her great-grandfather, she invited Gema to draw the maps of the islands where Ernest Hemingway once lived. This invitation originated a year long collaboration based on conversations about the importance of not underestimating the support that artists provide for one another.

I can’t explain what an honor it is for me (who used to read Hemingway’s books in Madrid when I was a teenager, wondering if I would ever travel far away) to see my drawings in a book written by my friend Cristen. Cristen’s words and inner vision inspired me profoundly.

I believe in the transformative power of Culture, and envision HEXAGONS as a platform that encourages the development of unlimited artistic potential.
